Global Village Initiative Committee (GVIC) met for the second time after it's inception last year. The committee was formed under the ausipices of GBC as part of strategic planning initiative.
Committee is made up of 14 members lead by His Holiness Bhakti Raghava Swami as Chairman and H.G Radha Krsna Prabhu of New Vrajadham (Hungary), H.G Gokul Prabhu of New Gvardhan (Australia) and Bharat Chandra Das of Krishna Balaram Ksetra (India) as Executive committee. His Holiness Bhakti Dhira Damodara Maharaj, H.G Dhanesvara prabhu, H.G. Samba Prabhu are few senior experienced devotees among the panel.
This global effort aims to facilitate the rural community development in ISKCON across the globe as very much desired by Srila Prabhupada.
There is an increasing interest amongst devotees all over the world for agrarian community living. There are ongoing efforts and few success stories of these efforts. Facilitating these efforts in various ways is the need of the hour.
Srila Prabhupada predicted that people will take shelter of our farms when difficuties arise in the modern world.

When R€mevara pointed out that beginning a farm community required a great deal of capital, Prabhup€da simply replied that the devotees should show the example and that others would automatically follow the successful pattern. R€mevara mentioned that in America, although the ISKCON temple presidents were eager to get as many people to join as possible, they found that most people were unable to come up to the required standard.
"Therefore farm," Prabhup€da said.
"They have to be encouraged to have a little bit of KŠa consciousness in their own home," R€mevara suggested, "-make their home a temple."
Prabhup€da disagreed. "No. Let them go to the farm, New Vrindaban." If the people were disinclined to austerity, he said, then let them come to the farm with their wife and children and live comfortably in their own house. And on the farms they would find plenty of employment. More and more,
Prabhup€da said, people would become jobless and would be obliged to take shelter of a KŠa conscious farm community.
"So we can expect," said Hari-auri, "that material conditions are going to become very much worse than at present?"
"They may come or not," said Prabhup€da. "We don't care. Let us establish an ideal society."

Prabhup€da: No luxuries. Live very simple life and you save time for chanting Hare KŠa.

Prabhup€da: That is my desire. Don't waste time for bodily comforts. You have got this body. You have to eat something. You have to cover yourself. So produce your own food and produce your own cloth. Don't waste time for luxury, and chant Hare KŠa. This is success of life. In this way organize as far as possible, either in Ceylon or in Czechoslovakia, wherever... Save time. Chant Hare KŠa. Don't be allured by the machine civilization.

Prabhup€da: This is soul-killing civilization, this kind way of life, especially European countries. Anywhere you can inhabit it. It is not very difficult. A cottage; you can produce your own food anywhere. Am I right?
Haˆsad™ta: Yes, Prabhup€da. We will do it.
Prabhup€da: And money, spend for KŠa—for KŠa's palace, for KŠa's temple, for KŠa's worship, gorgeous, as gorgeously as... Not for false... This is the human civilization. And to organize this, varŠ€rama will help you to divide the society—br€hmaŠa, katriya, vaiya—as there is division in the body. That will help. Don't waste human form of body for sense gratification. I wanted to introduce this. Now I have given you ideas. You can do it. You are all intelligent. For Caitanya Mah€prabhu's para-upak€ra. .. So you do good to others. Not exploit others. Any human being who has been bestowed by this body has the capacity to chant Hare KŠa. Give them chance and make situation favorable. Is that clear?
